Advanced Amine Chemical Precipitation (AACP) for
Amine Reclamation
Amine is the main chemical, used in natural gas processing. It absorbs acid components (H2S, CO2 etc.) and makes the gas sweet. So, amine is regenerated in regeneration tower using heat. MDEA, DEA and other types of amines are used widely. However mixed amines and activation with piperazine is applicable.
As amine circulates in the sweetening process, degrades to some wastes called HSS (Heat Stable Salts). HSS accumulation in amine cycle leads to corrosion acceleration and amine absorption capacity loss. The top allowable HSS concentration in gas plants is 2% wt. If HSS level exceeded this limit, amine inventory should be refreshed or HSS separated from amine. HSS removal from amine is that is known as Reclamation Process is performed based on some different concepts like Vacuum Distillation, Ion Exchange and Electro-Dialysis. KIMIA SANAT ATRON developed a novel method based on chemical precipitation of HSS in the form of Layered Double Hydroxides. This method has been commercialized and submitted as a knowledge base production of KIMIA SANAT ATRON.
This approach contains some advantages in comparison with other methods including:
- Economical Costs
- No need for Heat
- Less Wastes
- No Thermal Degradation
- Fast and High-Capacity Process
